Tuning Interface |
Two tuning interfaces are standard. Shiftware tuning software for Windows-based PCs and laptops allows advanced, yet easy to use tuning. The simplified, built-in tuning interface provides access to the most commonly-used tuning parameters without a PC or laptop. Tuning mode must be purposely entered, so that settings cannot be inadvertently changed. | Two screw adjustments, one for shift speed and one for firmness, plus a pushbutton to calibrate TPS. Separate display/programming unit required for advanced tuning at an additional cost of $185. | PC based tuning software is only interface available. | Seven knobs on side of unit are used to change basic settings. No mechanism appears to exist to prevent inadvertent settings changes. Advanced tuning requires purchase of optional paddle shifter / display unit for $500 extra. |
PC Connectivity |
USB 2.0, 12MB/S data rate. Controller can also be powered directly from USB connector for programming outside of vehicle. | None | RS-232 (Legacy 9-pin serial port, USB adapter required for most laptops) | None |
On-Board Fault and Status Display |
3 character LED display shows status, fluid temperature, sensor values, and alphanumeric fault codes | Faults displayed by blinking LED lamp. Separate display / programming unit available for $185. | None | Faults and speed displayed by blinking LED lamp. Optional paddle shifter / display unit available for $500 extra. |
Solenoid Output Capability |
10 outputs with over-current protection and diagnostics provide support for nearly all domestic and European transmissions. Any 9 outputs can be simultaneously and independently PWM-controlled. | 6 outputs with over-current protection and diagnostics. Outputs are PWM-controlled, as needed, for supported transmissions. | 12 outputs with over-current protection and diagnostics. 9 outputs are PWM-controlled, while 3 are on/off only. High-side switching provided to support Asian transmissions. | Unknown |
Manual Shift Mode |
Versatile Manutronic manual shift mode allows use of simple pushbuttons, paddle shifters, H-gate shifters, cruise control buttons, and many other devices for manual shifting. Many configurable options make this the most complete manual shift mode on the market. | Single mode with fixed configuration similar to the US Shift 2-wire mode with “disengage with shifter” and “engage with any button” options. | 2 different manual shift modes, with different wiring options, similar to US Shift, but without any additional options. | Manual shift mode requires purchase of optional paddle shifter / display unit for $500 extra. |
Multiple Program Selection |
2 programs selectable externally or internally | Not available | 2 programs selectable via external input | Unknown |
Ease of Troubleshooting |
Wiring harness is straightforward, modular, and logical. Connections are easily accessible for inspection and probing. | Connector uses small pins that are difficult to inspect and probe. Pins are concealed by a connector hood that must be removed for troubleshooting. | Connector uses small pins that are difficult to inspect and probe.
