Quick 4 Kit Builder

IMPORTANT

Read Before Ordering

Our goal is to insure that you get the correct harness for your transmission the first time. You will need to visually identify the connectors on your transmission by comparing them to the pictures in the kit builder. Pay close attention to the shape of the connector and the number of pins. The 4R70W and AOD-E have had connector changes throughout their production runs and sometimes even within the same model year. It's also common for a supplier to incorrectly report the model year of a transmission they are selling. Because of these factors, you shouldn't rely on model year information when identifying transmission connectors.

If the transmission isn't nearby, print out the connector guide so you can identify the connectors before ordering. If you don't have the transmission yet, it is best to wait until you receive it and can verify the connectors before ordering your system. Taking this extra time up front will help you avoid the time and expense of having to send incorrect harnesses back for exchange.

Connector Guide

You can print this guide and use it to visually check your transmission connectors.

Which solenoid (bulkhead) connector does your transmission have? Examine the connector on your transmission to make sure you're choosing correctly. Only identify the connector according to the number of pins, not by color, since aftermarket connector colors may vary. Click on the pictures below to see a larger view.
Use the buttons below to make your choice, then click Next to continue.

All AOD-E transmissions and pre-1996 4R70W transmissions use a low-impedance torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid that isn't compatible with our controllers. The correct solenoid should have a resistance of more than 7 Ohms. If you are not sure whether you need the updated solenoid, feel free to call our technical support line at (864) 646-8920 for assistance. If you need the correct TCC solenoid, it can be purchased locally. A typical application of the correct solenoid is for a 1996-1997 Mustang with a 4R70W transmission. Alternately, you can add the correct solenoid to your order below.

Despite looking the same, there are two versions of the later speed sensor. The first was used in 2001 - 2003 transmissions and has a 1 inch long barrel. The 2004 and up speed sensor has a barrel that is 5/64 of an inch shorter for a total of 15/16 inches long. The two sensors are not interchangeable. To make sure you are choosing correctly, measure the barrel of your sensor to see which one you have.
