10R140 and Power Stroke Diesel Engines
We have begun supporting the 10R140 transmission for swaps such as the one featured in our YouTube video (shown below). However, please keep in mind that this is very much a work in progress and we still have many of the details and logistics to iron out. You can rest assured, though, that the work has been completed on the transmission control side and the Quick10 is swap-ready! We are still working to perfect the shifter linkage kit, get cruise control functionality finished, and add extra diagrams to this page. Our goal is to make this as close to plug-and-play as possible, but there really is no such thing when you're modifying vehicles.
In this video, Karl and Jake discuss the process of installing a 2023 Ford 10R140 transmission into a 2003 F-250 with the PowerStroke 7.3L diesel engine, including the transmission adapter used to mate it to the engine, and controlling it with our Quick10 control system.
Frequently Asked Questions
What about other PowerStroke Engines?
The 6.0L and 6.4L will likely be possible. Performance Adapters is working on more adapters.
What about the V10 Engine?
The V10 can be done with 10R80, 10R100, or the gas 10R140 without an adapter. A spacer plate from Performance Adapters would be required for 10R80.
Will you support 6R140?
We plan to support 6R140 in the near future.
Did you have to modify the driveshaft?
With the 10R140 and NP273F, we're within 1/4" of the original transfer case location, so the driveshafts are stock. 6R140 or other transfer cases may require shaft modifications. 2WD will require a new driveshaft with a slip coupling, since all 10R140s and nearly all 6R140s use a fixed flange. There is a short wheelbase 6R140 with a slip yoke, but it appears to be quite rare.
Will the system work with aftermarket tuners?
Most likely, yes. Power Hungry Performance is working on a custom tune for this swap. If you have another brand of tuner, you should contact them and ask what is possible. If you don't have a tuner, the worst result seems to be a check engine light due to the missing original transmission.
How much does the swap cost?
Quick10 control system is $1475
Performance Adapter's engine plate is $1095
Performance Adapter's transfer case plate is $1195.
(Not every swap will require an adapter)
We offer a package deal with the adapter plate for a discount.
We are still working on the details for the linkage kit, but it won't be an expensive addon.
When will the system be available?
It is available now by phone or online ordering here.
Cruise control functionality?
We are working out the details now. It will be added as a field update soon.
Will we offer the transfer case adapter kit?
It has been added to the online store here.
